The Moon

Continuing with our space theme, the moon is an object that has mystified civilizations for millennia. It has inspired so many stories and legends in various cultures.

The moon also has a role to play in life – many reproductive cycles (in humans, in other animals, in plants) are monthly. The moon affects the tides and the weather on Earth.

You might take time with your students or class to see what phase the moon is at any given time – do you notice different energy levels during a full moon than a new moon (for example, the brightness of the full moon can affect sleep, or the fact that the moon makes each day just a tiny bit longer)?

Students can make drawings or poems about the moon, or take photographs.
