Did you know you cannot calculate the area of a circle exactly?
This post describes how it’s done by approximation:https://simplifytasks.com/2020/05/27/area-of-a-circle-proof-geometry-maths-tutorial/#more-794
Note that this leaves the area of a circle but not exactly – it is not precise. There is no perfection, no way to be sure of the complete answer. In math, this is common – curves approach, but never reach, infinity, or zero.
Like so many things, we must find the approximation that is closest, and with time, we approach the answer more closely.
This is true when we practice – perfect silence, perfect stillness, even perfect enlightenment, are aspirational concepts.
What else in our lives are approximations? Does this idea make you feel hopeless, or hopeful?
