55 Types of poems 35 – Ode

This great site suggests 55 types of poems, so for the next couple of months,
I aim to write one poem of each type. Since this is a site relating to earth, music, and mindfulness, I will limit myself to those topics as I write (I’ll tag the appropriate category among those three).


The thirty-fifth type is the Ode, which we have seen before.

In this case, I will take a 4 line stanza with couplets that rhyme.

At the Cliff

Upon the edge of nowhere,
I looked afar to somewhere,
I gazed upon the blue sea
It turned and gazed back at me

And from the sea there arose
A gentle sweet wind that blows
Into my deepest recesses
And fills me with excesses

Of something I cannot touch
Of something that feels too much
It whispers on the breeze
And quietly brings me ease
