A hundred word story for you today:
The Passport
I stood stoic as the officer flipped through the pages, every one marked except the last. He inked the rubber on an indigo-colored pad, looked up at my civvies and grown-out hair and asked, “Where did you go on vacation?” I told him the places I’d been over the last decade– Beirut, Kabul, Ukraine, Krakow. His face grew serious, and he stamped the passport. When he looked up again, a smile had bloomed on his face, and he said, sincerely, “Welcome home.”
Also for Reena’s prompt #194 on Polysyndeton, the practice of using conjunctions rather than commas, though limited in this piece. https://reinventionsreena.wordpress.com/2021/08/12/reenas-xploration-challenge-194/
Nice story! Homecoming made pleasant 😊
