This tree is a mother

This tree is a mother
all year long she is preparing food for me
like a mother, she asks neighbors for help
the bees and birds come to work
she feeds them, too
what they talk about, i don’t know
in winter, she barely wears a thing, while i stay warm
in spring, she consents to flowers in her hair
in summer, she feeds us all a feast
in autumn, she cries for she has no more to give
so she gives us color
and leaves to stomp in
and branches to climb
so that we will stay close
and love her
but we do, mother
so this winter, we all bring scarves
to warm her limbs
and remind her.
