The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store by James McBride is a quick read (I read it in large print and it went even faster! haha) that covers racism, disability, interaction of people, immigration, Jewish and Black experience, South vs North, kindness and community, a beautifully treated book that reminded me to honor my heritage and acknowledge the unspoken and unheard in my own past and present.
